About Me

Professional Focus & Approach

I am interested in opportunities that combine education, communication, relationship building, and program support to improve individual, family, and community well-being. My studies in Nutrition and Human Ecology have taught me to look at health from a broader perspective. Health is influenced not only by individual knowledge and behaviour, but also by family, community, culture, environment, and access to resources.

I believe effective health promotion begins with understanding people within the contexts of their lives. Support should respond to individual needs, strengths, experiences, and circumstances rather than assuming that the same approach will work for everyone.

I also believe people are more likely to make meaningful and lasting changes when they are involved in the process. Rather than simply telling people what to do, I hope to create supportive environments where individuals can explore their needs and motivations, build confidence, access appropriate resources, and make informed decisions that work for their lives.

My professional direction is guided by empathy, collaboration, equity, continuous learning, and respect for individual autonomy. I hope to apply knowledge in practical, culturally responsive, and person-centred ways that reflect the needs and circumstances of the people and communities I support

Putting My Philosophy into Practice

My interest in accessible health education extends beyond academic and professional settings. Through my personal Mandarin-language social media account, I have shared information and personal reflections on nutrition, supplements, healthy eating, vaccination, and other health topics.

One post discussing commonly overlooked considerations related to vitamin D, iron, and ferritin reached more than 1 million views and received over 100,000 likes and saves. The strong public response encouraged me to develop additional educational content addressing common questions about nutrient sources, laboratory testing, supplementation, and factors that may affect nutrient absorption.

This experience reinforced my interest in translating nutrition knowledge into practical, engaging, and culturally relevant content that raises awareness and helps people make more informed health decisions.

Equity in Practice

Equality provides everyone with the same resources, while equity recognizes that people may need different forms of support to achieve meaningful access and opportunity. By understanding individual needs, circumstances, and barriers, we can provide more responsive support and connect people with relevant resources..

Health Through a Human Ecological Lens

A human ecological perspective recognizes that health and well-being are shaped by interconnected influences, including family, community, culture, institutions, and broader social and environmental conditions. This perspective encourages me to look beyond individual behaviour and consider how systems, resources, and barriers influence people’s opportunities for meaningful and sustainable change.
